Fun Testimonial from a momma of a 9 month old boy!

We are so thankful for our experience with Dr. Casey. Camden was born prematurely at 33 weeks. He spent 33 days in the NICU. We started coming to Dr. Casey when Cam was 7 months old, due to our doctor letting us know he may have to be fitted for a helmet. Being premature, we knew it would take him a little longer to develop strength and skills to keep him off his back to allow his head to round correctly. We started out with weekly appointments. At 7 months, Cam wasn’t sitting up, rolling over, had little neck strength, hated tummy time, and wasn’t the best sleeper. Fast forward to now 9 months old, Cam is rolling over consistently, standing up with assistance and playing with table toys, sitting up on his own, sleeping great, and his head has started to round correctly which means we can avoid going the helmet route. Cam is now right on track with what he should be doing at 9 months old. We have always been a big believer in chiropractic care, but this really solidify it for us. Thank you Dr. Casey for all your support. We truly appreciate it and can’t wait to continue to watch him grow!

Recipe: Monster Cookie Granola

This was a fun recipe to make! Ajax loved it so much and as he was eating it all he could say was mmmmm so good!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (I like chunky)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini M&Ms

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a cookie sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a silicon liner.
  • Put the honey and the peanut butter into a medium sized microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, until peanut butter is a little melted.
  • Whisk together until smooth (you can add a splash of vanilla here if you want, I do it about half of the time).
  • Use a rubber spatula to mix in the oats, making sure the oats are thoroughly coated in the peanut butter/honey mixture. Mix in the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
  • Spread the granola onto the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Let cool completely. Crumble into bite sized pieces.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks (really, it lasts way longer– but I always feel funny recommending people store anything longer than that!)

Health Tip about dairy:

The downside of dairy is it actually gets turned into sugar in our bodies and for some people they are very sensitive to it. If you like your yogurt try looking for organic, whole fat, low sugar/no added sugar content and as much protein as you can get.
