Yoga with Lynn Van Patten + Corrective Chiropractic Care

Yoga and Chiropractic go so well together! If you are one that constantly feels tight or like an adjustment doesn’t hold for very long this class would be great for you!!! I have personally gone to a lot of classes with Lynn and it has always been so relaxing and a lot of fun.

Self-Myofascial Release is a practice that uses tools to target fascia in the body. When fascia is healthy, it is supple, flexible, and supports our bones and other tissues, including our muscles. When fascia is not healthy, it can be dry, hard and can restrict movement and cause discomfort.

Most yoga in American culture is “yang” and focuses mostly on the muscles. Yin yoga is a practice focused on the deeper “yin” tissues of the body: ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks and even bones. By applying gentle, consistent pressure, the body is stimulated to release holding and tension and improve the condition of those tissues.

When we combine SMR with Yin yoga, we get a deeper connection to those “yin” tissues and the benefits increase.

This class is a great compliment to your current activities, especially if you have a strength training practice, a more yang yoga practice, if you are a desk jockey or if you participate in a sport.

Each week, will focus on different areas of the body, spending a few minutes using tools to help unwind areas of holding, tension, or stress. Then, we will move into a yin practice focused on those same body areas to work even more deeply into release.

My goal for you is to become freer, more resilient, and more at ease in your body, and to give you a foundation to build your own practice of consistent SMR.

Tools will be provided at each class, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Supplements:

BACK TO THE BASICS:

Supplements are meant to support what we do not get in our diet. Your diet is #1. You cannot supplement for a bad diet. So a good diet with proper supplementation for you and your body is going to be different for everyone. Please ask us for help before starting a plan on your own.

This list is just the basics. Each person is going to have different needs! Please ask your Chiropractor/Doctor to get a specific plan that will meet all your needs!

Basic Daily Supplements:

  • #1 Multivitamin OR #2 Prenatal Multivitamin with Folate (not folic acid)
  • #3 Omegas/Fish oil/DHA
  • #4 Vitamin D3 with K2
  • #5 Probiotic

We want to emphasize more about how the quality of your supplement matters! Supplements are not regulated like they should be so a lot of junk can get added to them.

Things to look for:

  1. Plant Based Non GMO Multivitamin/Prenatal Multivitamin **  — Does the company make their supplements from real, whole food??
  2. Check the labels — Are there any extra ingredients in them? At the bottom of the vitamin amounts it will have extra ingredients – you want to know what these are! Be sure to watch out for added sugars, colorings and artificial flavorings as well as gluten, dairy and soy. There should not be a lot of extra ingredients in your supplements.
  3. Protein powders — Make sure they do not have soy, extra sugars (no more than 7 grams), and they have at least have 25g of protein with 1 serving!
  4. Gummies are questionable— they have added sugar and defeat the purpose of the supplement, but if that is all your kid will take, occasionally it’s ok!

Ask us!!! We would love to help you find a good one that you love!
